Outline Process

For this outline assignment I learned the importance of making sure you put things in chronological order. I honestly have NEVER done an outline like this before, ever. It was super helpful. I can already tell a difference in the writing process just by following the process that was given to me. I believe that the biggest part of all of these assignments is organization. I have a binder that holds the assignments and I print off each of my papers after I am finished and I attach the feedback. I think this has been helpful in keeping each section organized as well as paying attention to what I need to work on for the future. I just have to make sure I take the time I read it. I am still overall content with the topic I chose. I was worried that when it came to diving further into the history of tattoos I would lose all interst.

Research and Write!

Well, its blog week!  The research and writing process for the Annotated Bibliography included a lot of reading, note taking and writing. The topic I chose was the evolution of tattoos . I was happy that I had the ability to pick from a list of topics. This made the process a lot simplier for myself and took some of the stress out of this project. One of the things that I learned from my research is that there is a custom of tatooing women at puberty in some cultures. At first I wasn't sure there would be any signifigant reason for doing that. However, according to Hambly,  this is done to help guard against mysterious dangers that women are exposed too at this age. Something that I learned about myself is I am  not a fan of using shows as a source for this topic. Course Thoughts

 Hi, my name is Kaitlyn and this is my blog. After reading the VERY long course packet I found that there was a lot of important information in there. One thing in particular that I liked was how detailed it was, I like that I know what is expected of me in this course. The first thing that I learned from this reading was how to properly cite things. This is something that I have always struggled with, and I like that I can reference this packet if I need to. Another thing that I learned was how important strong verb signal phrases are. I liked that there were examples.

Research Update!

For this round of writing, I found it a little smoother since I was able to really narrow down what I wanted for my subject. Something that I feel like I learned was that it honestly is helpful to reach out to your professor to look over your draft before submission. The second thing I learned was that just because it is the first source/option/link on google scholar, DOES NOT mean it is the best one to choose. It always seems like that would be the easiest thing to do, but I learned that it may not be the best. If I had gone with the first couple that I saw, I wouldn't have any good sources to use. With the amount of research I have done so far, I now understand why it is important to choose a topic that you enjoy. The amount of reading that is required is a lot, and you do not want to be stuck reading on a topic that you HATE.
